Baby Blue-eyes and other flowers

The flowers came early to Gadigal Country this year, beginning to bloom in August. Every year I'm surprised by how much joy it brings me— front yards growing greener, bundles of herbs left in little book libraries, nasturtiums curling between wooden gate posts and reaching across the footpath. A fresh, colourful map of the neighbourhood, the air full of scents faintly remembered from the year before.
